    A good alternative is a high fiber diet. Organic apples, vegetables, whole grains. And lots of organic broccoli.

    If one cannot afford Milk thistle, NAC, or reduced glutathione (which is still not that well absorbed orally anyway), put some organic lemon or orange peel in a smoothie. Citrus peel activates both phase one and phase two detoxification.

    Globe artichokes have some of the liver protective properties of milk thistle without the cost. Throw a few frozen artichokes in those smoothies in the morning. Don't forget the multivitamin/mineral, C, E. and Calcium and Magnesium. Magnesium is needed in hundreds of enzymes.

    Most sources of chlorella, spirulina, and kelp will soon all become too contaminated to use. Try Holy Basil as an adaptogen. Holy Basil, (also called Tulsi) has been shown to have radioprotective properties. Add a lot of organic rosemary to your dishes. As an inexpensive source of extra fiber try adding oat bran or rice bran to cooked breakfast cereal or homemade muffins. Oat bran is a good source of Beta glucan, and rice bran is a good source of alpha glucan. Rice bran also contains the polysaccaride arabinoxylane which has been shown in test tubes to increase natural killer cell function.

    Adding lots of fresh leafy greens to smoothies will boost levels of chlorophyll, just do not use any uncooked brassica family greens such as kale, mustard, and collards because uncooked brassica foods will bind to iodiine making it unavaliable for your thyroid.

    There are lots of ways, those with limited funds to help themselves using foods and readily available inexpensive supplements and foods. Use lots of turmeric and ginger. Turmeric's antioxidant properties are renowned and it also has been shown to protect against radioactivity. Ginger does this to a lesser extent.
